Ballroom Dances You Should Learn Part 2

Now, let us talk about different dance venues. This is the first thing that we explain to all of our new students. When you find yourself in a situation where there is dancing, you are going to want to be able to dance. Much like if you travel to a foreign land, you are going to need to be able to converse the language. And, unfortunately, there is not one particular form of music that is played in all dance situations. Now, sometimes people tend to think that they will never go to a particular setting (for example a wedding or a cruise), and so they do not need to be prepared to dance.

In reality, once you learn to dance, now you have this new trait which you are going to want to use as much (and as often) as you can. In fact, once you become a better dancer, you will find yourself looking for places to go out dancing. Learning to ballroom dance and taking ballroom dance lessons is something that we do once in a lifetime, and use for the rest of your life. Some occasions, such as a cruise, may not come up now. But over the course of your life, many different things come up, and you don’t want to have to come back to a dance studio to prepare for that particular need. Granted, when you first start thinking about taking (or needing to take) dance lessons, in most cases you are not going to know what to learn, what you need to learn, or sometimes, what you want to learn. And sometimes the catalyst may be a need to learn to prepare for a special situation. So you may think that that is all that you will need to learn. In reality, in life many circumstances rise that lend to dancing. Dance instruction (much like formal education) needs to be done once, but in completion. Just as in formal education, taking only a few semesters of any subject does not make you complete in that subject. Just taking a few lessons or focusing on a few dances does not make you a comfortable dancer.
